Isakson to Hold Hearing on VA’s Inclusion in ‘High Risk’ Report by Nonpartisan Government Accountability Office

“GAO’s High Risk List and the Veterans Health Administration”

WASHINGTON – The Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, chaired by U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., will hold an oversight hearing on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, to examine the placement of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Health Administration on the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s (U.S. GAO) 2015 “High Risk List.”

At the beginning of every Congress, the independent, nonpartisan U.S. GAO produces a list of what it deems ‘high risk’ federal agencies and programs, bringing special attention to agencies or programs that may be susceptible to fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement. This is the first time that the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has been included on the list since the U.S. GAO started the list in 1990. View the U.S. GAO 2015 High Risk report here.
