Hejira

Jill Stein dared to criticize Hillary Clinton.

If you missed it, that's a huge thing online.

It was sexist, some howler monkeys insist, for Jill to criticize Hillary on Mother's Day.

Truly, the world needs to grow the hell up.

Is Hillary their Mommy?

Did she take them to her tit and nurse them?

Really, grow the hell up.

Mother's Day?

Crapapedia offers:

The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Today St Andrew's Methodist Church now holds the International Mother's Day Shrine.[6] Her campaign to make "Mother's Day" a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. Ann Jarvis had been a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War, and created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues. Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honor all mothers, because she believed that they were "the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world".[citation needed]
In 1908, the US Congress rejected a proposal to make Mother's Day an official holiday, joking that they would have to proclaim also a "Mother-in-law's Day". However, owing to the efforts of Anna Jarvis, by 1911 all US states observed[clarification needed] the holiday, with some of them officially recognizing Mother's Day as a local holiday,[7] the first being West Virginia, Jarvis' home state, in 1910. In 1914, Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother's Day, held on the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers.[8]

Although Jarvis was successful in founding Mother's Day, she became resentful of the commercialization of the holiday. By the early 1920s, Hallmark Cards and other companies had started selling Mother's Day cards. Jarvis believed that the companies had misinterpreted and exploited the idea of Mother's Day, and that the emphasis of the holiday was on sentiment, not profit. As a result, she organized boycotts of Mother's Day, and threatened to issue lawsuits against the companies involved.[9] Jarvis argued that people should appreciate and honor their mothers through handwritten letters expressing their love and gratitude, instead of buying gifts and pre-made cards.[8] Jarvis protested at a candy makers' convention in Philadelphia in 1923, and at a meeting of American War Mothers in 1925. By this time, carnations had become associated with Mother's Day, and the selling of carnations by the American War Mothers to raise money angered Jarvis, who was arrested for disturbing the peace.[8][9]

Whatever you think of Mother's Day -- and I think less and less of it each year -- you're allowed to think that.

And you're allowed to judge others.

Yes, in the United States and in our current times, we judge each other constantly.

We put losers on TV in so-called 'reality' shows just so that we can judge them.

Jill doesn't think Hillary's a good mother.

That's her opinion.

I'm sure it's based upon Jill's conception of Mother's Day as a peace holiday and contrasting that with Hillary's War Hawk ways.

If you don't like it, too damn bad.

Quit acting like it's the end of the world.

Or that 'Little Chelsea' got insulted.

'Little Chelsea' is 36-years-old.

And she's damn embarrassing.

Until becoming a mother, she had nothing to point to with pride.

The Nixon girls accomplished more than her.

You better believe the Obama girls will as well.

Patti Davis had done more 8 years after her father left the White House than Chelsea has in 16.

Amy Carter accomplished much.

Chelsea's parents got mega rich in the post-White House period and she had all the advantages in the world but can't point to any accomplishment until she finally got pregnant and had a child.

You could argue by Chelsea's 'accomplishments' alone, Hillary is a failure (as is Bill).

You could also note all the women of the world who have no children because of Hillary's wars.

Or the orphans of Iraq whose parents were taken away by Hillary's war.

  1. I agree with Jill Stein. Perhaps Hillary needs to step back and think of the millions of mothers who lost children b/c of Iraq.

There are so many more important issues than whether or not Jill just dissed Hill.

But by all means, let the raving lunatics -- insane enough to vote for Hillary in 2016 (where were they in 2008?) -- set the terms of rational debate in the United States.

The world gets ever more crazy.

And I thought, biting my tongue all last week, that I'd seen the worst of the crazy.

As REUTERS and various other news outlets promoted 'women.'

Women who were out for "revenge."

One headline after another, one story after another.

Because, goodness knows, the one thing Iraq today suffers from is a lack of revenge?

There's more than enough revenge going around.

And it's one of the reasons I don't take Mother's Day seriously at all.

In the lead up to Mother's Day weekend, a group of women in Iraq were seeking revenge -- according to the breathless press accounts.

Not justice -- revenge.

Once upon a time, you could hear Jackie DeShannon singing "What the world needs now, is love sweet love . . ."

But last week, media outlets repeatedly insisted what was needed was revenge.

Two US service members died in Iraq last week.

But what passes for the 'political class' in the US -- at least on the left -- wanted to spend the weekend whining about how poor Hillary was insulted.

Oh, the tragedy.

However, will we go on.

We won't all go on.

  1. Lt. David Bauders of Seattle died in Iraq Friday. He is being called a selfless soldier who put others first.

bauders

That would be a real issue, his death is a real issue.

And the White House better hope what THE DAILY MIRROR is reporting is not true.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether Hillary Clinton is a good mother or a good wife or whether anyone questions it or not.

At the end of the day, what she does in her personal life is inconsequential to the path she's attempting to take.

But by all means let's pretend like Hillary can't be insulted -- when she can be.

When all politicians can be -- and should be.

Take the piss out of 'em already.

Stop acting like fan clubs and instead become citizens in a democracy.

Stop making your life about defending some celebrity and start defending your own damn rights and needs.

America's celebrity obsession remains its greatest liability.

The number of US service members the Dept of Defense states died in the Iraq War is [PDF format warning] 4498 (plus 19 in Operation Inherent Resolve which includes at least 3 Iraq War fatalities).
